During new group creation, I need users to be able to select only 'Approval' or 'Invite' in the 'type' options. I need to eliminate the select option of 'Open'. There should be no open groups on the site completely.
Categories can restrict what types are available to them. Edit your category and adjust the Types parameter as needed. If you're not using categories there is no way to restrict what type the can select at this time.
