Hello Kyle,

Thank you very much for all this detailed information and explanations, as well as for your quick response.

I tried to do what you shared with me by adding the CB menu item with all the settings as shown in your image, but unfortunately, this does not solve the problem.

Here is the error message I receive on the console, prior to sending a text message :

What Joomla version are you on? You mentioned 2 comment streams are both giving you problems or only the one named Modules? The "(Unauthorised - Invalid Asset)" response means the asset couldn't be reconstructed to validate the stream. That certainly shouldn't happen especially for standard module assets, but it does mean CB Activity is at least being reached. I can take a look if you PM backend super user login credentials (see link in signature below) and review your configuration to try and see if there's possible configuration issues.

I've released a new CB Activity build with improved access check behavior. Please give this release a try. If your issue still persists you'll have to PM backend super user login credentials (see link in signature below) so I can review your install as I'm unfortunately out of ideas here as I am unable to replicate your issue in my tests (including on our demo site).

Thank you again for your valuable help and for explaining the nature of this technical problem!

My friend's website uses Joomla version 4.4.13. We tried updating it with the version you made available, but unfortunately, it still doesn't work.

I also have the same problem with the chat display on my website, but I haven't been able to try this build yet because I still need to take the time to update everything to test it.

When logged in with a Super User account, it works and it is possible to post, but not as a member.

To answer your question, both streams are indeed experiencing the same problem.

During your tests, were you also able to post with an account that was not a Super User but was in the Registered user group ?

Because on our side, it works as a Super User but not as a Registered user.

Thank you very much for your help and for offering to look at this directly on the site, that is very kind of you. I can't give you access to my site yet because I haven't tested it, as there are many updates I need to make and recent builds I need to install. I tested it on my friend's site, which has already been updated.

I will send you access to my website as soon as possible once the updates have been made, or to my friend's website earlier if she is unable to resolve this bug either, depending on the feedback she gives me.

In addition, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you that my friend had to update her Stripe API version because it was very old and she was experiencing problems with payments and a high rate of error on her webhook. It is the new version ‘2025-07-30.basil’.

This does not seem to cause any problems with payments going through correctly without errors showing up in logs, despite a few issues with expiry dates not always updating on all subscriptions and an error message being displayed in the logs on her site because her API version is too recent. Unfortunately, it was not possible to use an intermediate version. Here is the error message found in the logs:

I remember I had a similar issue on my site in the beginning of this year, which you kindly resolved with a build since it was a compatibility issue of CB with the newest API version at that time, if I remember correctly. I was wondering if it could be the same problem here since it's a newer version now ?

Yes, my default test user is always a regular registered user and my screenshot earlier is of a regular registered user posting.

Please be sure either you or your clients account has an active membership or subscription to CB Activity as I cannot review a CB Activity issue without an active subscription for it. Currently you only have an active CB AntiSpam subscription.

Ensure CBSubs is up to date and you're fine as our CBSubs Stripe implementation is compatible with latest Stripe API version.

That's just an information log an not an error. Your version is fine and meets the minimum. That should not cause problems with subscriptions not renewing. Be sure you've updated the account API version and the webhook version at Stripe as they're separate settings. Then review the webhooks at Stripe to check for success responses as we respond to every webhook.
