Unable to find install package

Hi Stephan:

Downloaded 2.0rc
Unzipped
Attempted install of com_uddeim

Get the error:
There was an error uploading this file to the server.
Unable to find install package

Nothing listed in FAQ manual or files about resolving.

I have uninstalled ALL previous versions, components, mods, plugins that I could find.

In my opinion the upload failed (unreliable server, maybe a timeout while uploading the package).

Unpack the package, upload it into the server's temp folder and use do a local installation.

This morning I unzipped it the whole zip file and FTP'd all the files to "install from directory" at /home1/siteloginremoved/public_html/tmp/uddeim2/com_uddeim.zip

Still get the err:
Unable to find install package

This was done a different computer and different network, so not likely its Timing Out.

Please first get familiar with Joomla: You have to unzip the packages (com_uddeim.zip) when doing local installations.

Thank you, I understand now and it is resolved.

For others who use search this forum, go to your Global Config Path to Temp-folder

Copy and paste
/home1/sitename/public_html/tmp

And trial and error with dropping the /public_html/tmp or and variation of folders to whereever all the files were uploaded too.

My problem was I get trying to install the .xml file (ie. myfile.xml) not realizing I didn't need to include this on the end of the pathway like I typically do with package file installations.

I had a similar problem getting com_comprofiler.zip to install. the thing that worked for me was disabling FTP from within Joomla. I then used the default "upload file and install" inside of Joomla. I Hope this helps future users.
