Heavy Load on Prune

I get apache processes of 300megs when i prune uddeim.

This causes a super high load of 25+ and the site will become almost unavailable.

Could the pruning be done more memory efficiently ?

how often do you prune?

i wanted to do it everyday with a cron script.. but it takes longer than lynx (console http browser) cares to wait..

Once every few days i hit the prune link manually..

Say once every 3 days on average..

After setting udde to prune on every admin inbox login i still get processes of 110 megs. Even if i have just pruned.

I've exported my uddeim table and it was 16.1 megs.

In an effort to minimize the load I have set read deletions after 2 days, unread after 50 days, and every 14 days a forgetmenot.

I used to save messages for a century, after i pruned it with these settings i was still left with an (optimized) uddeim table export of 15 megs. so that wasn't really helpfull i think.

Any advice ?
