im working on making my site a bit more efficient. hope someone can chip in their thoughts here as performance is an issue for lots of people. im running joomla 1.5.22 and cb 1.4.

ive found some good, though somewhat general and old tips from ford and those joomla tips

using the handy ff addon jsview (it allows you to see what js and css files are currently loaded) i noticed in particular two heavy scripts (when viewing the profile):

1) Jquery 82 kb

the script "jquery 1.5.0. min" is about 82 kb on my site, while here for instance, the equally named script is only about 28 kb. ive turned on gzip compression. how did you do this?

2) overlib 48 kb

the second script that is really quite heavy is overlib. is this script only for rollover effects? can this be turned off or replaced by a css script like this for instance without tinkering with the core?
