Sending Confirmation emails

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me please.

I am having majour issues trying to get confirmation emails to be sent once a user has registered onto my site.

The issue orginally seemed to regarding users with Hotmail Accounts everyone else recieved an email when registering but people with hotmail email accounts didnt. We established it was to do with the way my host company was sending out emails they advice me to setup an smtp email address and send from that instead which i have now done.

I have tested the emails being sent driect from the mail box and they get recieved via both normal emails accounts and that of hotmail.

But i am now not able to send emails through the website in terms of a user registers but they dont get an confirmation email which then means they cant confirm and then are unable access the site.

I thought i had changed the right settings with in Joomla and within Community builder but now i am completley stuck and an tearing my hair out as to where to go next.

I would be greatfull for any tips anyone could provide.

I am using
Joomla 1.5.25 and CB Building 1.8
I am using e-noise as my host

exactly how did you setup smtp on your joomla site?

Hi Many thanks for your reply after reading a few more forum posts i realised that it was to do with the SMTP authentication and port number, All sorted now.
