CB login separate from joomla login?

Could anyone tell me if if can have a login and registration process separate from my joomla login/registration process?

I want users to be able to register on my website to be able to access certain content, but not be allowed into the "social community" portion of the site (which I am building with CB) without providing more info (CB registration process).

Nope - you should be always using the CB processes.

There are solutions for what you want - for example CB Conditionals plugin can be used.
