Is it possible to use different From: addresses for registration emails and subsequent mass emails? I have searched for configuration but cannot find any.

Nope - all CB emailing uses same default CB Configuration settings.

The latest CB Auto Actions plugin (available to Professional members) can be configured to send emails using a different SMTP server connection.
