CB Login Module Redirection URL Not Redirecting Correctly

8 years 4 weeks ago #288479 by Intellitech
Hi. Need some help.

I have updated in the CB Login Redirection URL field (the URL http://[domain name]/index.php/...) to redirect to a specific page (article) which is View accessible only by Registered users.

In the main CB Configuration, under the Registration Tab, the First Login Redirect is left blanked. It should be calling from the CB Login module re-directed URL entered above.

The website has 2 places which the user could navigate to login. Both menu items are selected with CB Login Module. But the URLs on these varies - one with .../member-login and another item with .../login. Would this matter?

The issue I have here is that, the re-direction does not seem to be working properly. I have personally tested across various browsers and I was able to get re-directed to the specific page.
But here's the strange issue, whereby the re-direction goes back to the Homepage (../index.php), which was the previous redirect URL in the CB Login Module. Strangely, this happens to other users whom I had asked to test the redirected page after login, whereas I do not have issues with getting logged in and get redirected?

What could be the issue that is causing the redirect to fail?? Need some assistance on this matter.

Thank you very much.

Ok.. I might have uncover the reason why the redirection is in consistent.

Could it be that there are users who access the site with the 'www' prefix, to login and the redirected URL is without.
Thus, those who login via the triple 'w' would get directed to the default Homepage, instead of the Registered access only URL without the 'www'.

If indeed it is the case, we'll make the amendments to the site's .htaccess file to rewrite the URL to without the 'www' prefix.

Ensure live_site in configuration.php is empty and for any redirect URLs ensure to use non-SEF beginning with index.php then it won't matter if they're visiting with or without www.

This is empty. Yes.

do I do this in from the system's global config? currently the SEO settings are SEF URLs Yes, and the others No. the .htaccess file has the Rewrite Rule on. Am I doing the amendments correctly?

You need to supply a non-SEF URL beginning with index.php for any redirect usages. Do not use SEF URLs and do not include domain for redirect URL parameters. If you need to turn off SEF temporarily to get the non-SEF URL then do so as needed.
