Fail to install, Joomla 2.5.28

I'm trying to re-install CB on my site. Whether I upload the pkg or try installing it either as a .zip or as a directory (by unzipping the archive and uploading the directory via FTP, the installation fails).

001_pkg_communitybuilder_2.1.2+build.2017.03.31.23.49.38.3bf553c4c.zip is being installed.
001_pkg_communitybuilder_2.1.2+build.2017.03.31.23.49.38.3bf553c4c.zip failed to install!
Installer is uninstalling.
Installer failed to uninstall!

After doing this I see no artifacts (like com_commbuilder_install or whatever) in the extension manager. Is there a file somewhere I need to delete via FTP/shell/cPanel?

Will CB v 2.1.2 even work on 2.5.28?

Joomla 2.5 is EOL. It is not supported by Joomla and thus not supported by us. CB working on it right now is flat out luck. We do not test Joomla 2.5 anymore. In short if it works it works if not then upgrade to Joomla 3.x, which we do support and test.
