Hello Kyle,

I tried the instructions please find the screenshot pasted.A few observations:-
1) The query field is not visible on profile, so i am unable to view its output (it is marked to show on profile.)
2)The users are still able to continue making connetions beyond their limit.

Thanks
Pranay

It has to be visible on profile or it won't substitute. Move it to a tab in a not shown on profile position if you don't want it visible so substitutions for it can function. The tab it's on should also be set to Public.

2)The users are still able to continue making connetions beyond their limit.

That's due to the substitution failing. You can see it failing in the error output where it's just display the field name. If that substitution doesn't work then try the below usage.

[cb:userfield field="FIELD_NAME" /]

Hello Kyle,

substituted as suggested, and also changed the tab but the field still does not show up on profile, yes it has been marked visible, it is a simple query field.

Thanks
Pranay

Is CB Query Field published within CB > Plugin Management? Is the field marked as published ? Is the tab it's on marked published?
