Referral Plug In

I gotta 'say' that we all appreciate the hard worl -- take your time; I'm sure this component will be cool!

the only thing i can recommend for this next task is that, if the url was just like an advertising link to the site and not needed for signing up , it could just check for the referral key. This would work easily with the current module / plugin. There is a possibility of allowing a person to put in their referral code into the registration like you say but it is tedious. However it is possible to make it put it in automatically - but i'd need to know how you add a field into the registration from a plugin.

So basically your new thing will be a plugin... that has a referral module so users of that site can get points based on the people they recommend to the site?

Also with that you can have users use the points in some sort of way?

That sounds like a complicated but nice little project. I'd be interested in beta testing it on my site.

currently points are just stored and aren't used but it depends on other components and them checking whether the user has enough points and deducting them.
