Yep, I understand. It's hard to create a system that is very generic but flexible at the same time. I just thought the manual way to assign user would work.

That would be something to discuss with your client ensuring they understand the limitations of the software. Sometimes what a client wants isn't always doable/available, avoid empty promises as well (ones you couldn't possibly fulfill).

Yeah, I guess that's what I have to do.

Bottom line is exactly what you're wanting can not be done. I've afforded several alternatives to come close to what you're wanting, but exactly what you're wanting is not available. I recommend reviewing many of the suggested approaches, testing them, then presenting them to your client; explain a limitation of software is being imposed and it shouldn't be an issue assuming you did not make a obligatory promise that it could be done all is well!

I know you've been very helpful with workarounds to help me and other users :)

Replied by krileon on topic Re: Can't assign different plan from backend
Can confirm with next release you'll be able to conditionally display other plans based off existing plans activity. For instance you could show a 2nd Full Membership plan with an initial price of $10 that a user could upgrade to, but only if they're a subscriber of the Associate plan. It is still not EXACTLY what you're wanting, but it's MUCH more elegant approach. This feature will be available with CBSubs 1.2; so no release date, but we're hoping very soon (before end of June is our goal). Hopefully this would be something acceptable for you and your client.
