<SOLVED>Manage connections in CB Content Module

Not sure, if I understand your application. The link "manage connections" would only show pending and existing connections. So, the user has already made a contact request... or wants to cancel one. If you hide the manage link, you don´t get rid of the general feature.

Connections happen on Profile view or on the list. So, as long as your two groups are browsing the same site, user lists, profiles ... they are able to see each other.

Regarding a conditional link removal... try this in CSS input area:

[cb:if cb_yourgroupname="group1"]
cbMenu_UE_MENU_MANAGEMYCONNECTIONS { display: none; }
[/cb:if]

Hint: Replace cb_yourgroupname and group1 with your values!

If you need to hide certain things for one or the other "usergroup"... you might use the CB Conditional Plugin. This allows to control view access for fields and complete tabs.

If even this is not enough... take a look at the VERY BIG brother CBsubs ;-)

That is just it.. I don't see a tab for "manage connections" otherwise I would just use the conditional and hide it for this user group. Perhaps I am missing something??

The application is as follows:

User group A = event creators
User group B = Athletes

Athletes create a account and sign up for a event. Then thru auto actions they are connected to User group A (who created the event).

Connection type "judges" allows User group A to connect with judges and allow them access rights they otherwise would not have.

I don't need user group B to manage any connections (and don't want to confuse them with seeing a "judge" connection type)

Nope. As far as i know, thats the current situation and configuration options. Manage is a menu link. Tab is for "MyConnections" only.

BTW, the CB Connections Plugin itself has access restriction. never tried it this way, but it should have an effect... I hope so! You said your group-A has a respective J! usergroup... so it has a certain access level. You may choose this in plugin parameters. Maybe worth a try...

If you want to keep everything else... incl. auto CB menu ... i would suggest to try my previous CSS workaround. (Not tested. Just quick and dirty from my mind, and personal notes.)

Unfortunately it does not seem to work (or I am doing something wrong). I set it to group A access and group b can still click on "manage my connections"

I think I will just go the "dirty" CSS route for now and want to tell you how much I truly appreciate your efforts. THANK YOU

Thanks for confirming and testing, though it seems not have any effect on the CB Menu display. Maybe a good idea to notify and ask "Joomlapoli's staff", if this should be the case !? Should we open a new topic with suitable title?
At least for me, it makes sense to use this access parameter. Not sure if any other plugin does work this way. Usually it all works about tabs.
