derekk wrote: The pdf gives you the field structure of the comprofiler table.

You can see there is an avater column.
This has to be populated with the relevant filename for each user.

If you have migrated like this before then you ust have certainly encountered such an issue.

Perhaps you should use CB Juice - I believe it supports this.

As I see you have a parallel forum post going I will follow that one with Kyle - no need to have 2 separate efforts.

We are here to help you !

Best Regards,
Nick

Nick I was instructed to post to the forum too.

Thats why I asked for clarification above it did not make sense to post in both unless you thought it was better to have two heads than one.

"If you have migrated like this before then you ust have certainly encountered such an issue."
No I never had this issue with avatars nor encountered populating the avatar column.

Are you suggesting I export all the avatar columns from the live site and import them into the dev site using phpmyadmin?

I dont understand how what I am doing is so unusual or atypical.

Anyone who migrates from Joomla 1.5. to 2.5 is under these circumstances, given that there must be a step by step to ensure the avatars get moved as well. Or has this changed ?

I started out my upgrade using CB Quickstart PRO 1.1 and purchased it because it stated and yes I am paraphrasing this was simple, seamless and Kunena compatible.

Migration from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5 is not a simple process. You can use something like jupgrade and it will take care of most items (should also take care of the CB avatars).

To simply move a site from host a to host b, you can use something like akeeba backup.

If I understand correctly you migrated the avatars database entries in _comprofiler, but not the images? You need to also move the avatars from images/comprofiler/ to your migrated install (jUpgrade should do this for you).

I have been using Akeeba since day one and have done several 1.5 to 2.5 migrations using Akeeba,SP Upgrade and or Jupgrade, in fact this one was done with (edit: sorry I meant SP Upgrade)Jupgrade. It obviously did not bring the avatars over.

I made no custom or alternate adjustments when I used SP Upgrade so perhaps an error occurred, I still have the log file I can reference.

What are the next possible steps to resolve this?

Can I use SP Upgrade again on this dev site and just select avatars?
Can I use phpmyadmin and export/import the avatar tables from live to dev?
Will CBjuice do the export/import the avatar tables from live to dev, is it better ,different or more accurate than SP Upgrade?
Even though this one makes no sense I will ask anyway, Can I manually ftp the avatar images into the correct folder, which folder?

SP Upgrade does not move the files. You will need to move them from images/comprofiler/ manually to your new site. If it moved the database rows in _comprofiler table then that's all you should have to do to get avatars working again.

No, CB Juice will not export/import the avatars. It will the database entries, but it doesn't export every image then re-import them. You need to copy them from your old install to your new.

jUpgrade is the only migration tool we support and it's the only one that is coded to move the images to the migrated install.

Thanks krileon what is the exact path to make sure I get it right.

"If it moved the database rows in _comprofiler table then that's all you should have to do to get avatars working again. "

I do not know if it did but I doubt it since there not there now. I looked in the log settings for SP uppgrade and I do not see any comprofiler tables.

"No, CB Juice will not export/import the avatars. It will the database entries, but it doesn't export every image then re-import them. You need to copy them from your old install to your new."
Great that clarifies this but I need to make sure I am putting them in the right folder when I copy them from the old install to new.

"jUpgrade is the only migration tool we support and it's the only one that is coded to move the images to the migrated install."

Ok I tried that one but it was not as accurate for me as SP upgrade.
Could I now try jupgrade for just the CB avatars or is it that not practical?

It does get confusing when the names are similar and you combine different techniques for different components, have yet to find one migrator that does the 2.5. migration for all components.

Export your users with CB Juice. Now import them into your migrated install. Now go to images/ folder on your old install and copy "comprofiler" folder to your new install. That should be all you need to do.
