[SOLVED] Avatars acting up was created by fribse2011
I can't figure out what is going on.
I have the CB 1.9 and J2.5.9
I've had an avatar for a very long time on my profile.
Now I just went and updated it, and my profile shows the avatar correctly, but my CB Login box shows the standard image if you have no avatar, and my 'CB Progress field' also says that I don't have a 'thumbnail'.
I've tried with a png and jpg file

If I upload from backend I get a message that the file is too big, but the max is set to 5 mb, and the avatar is 4 kb.

Best regards

Hmm, I just tried in the backend to set it to use GD2 instead of ImageMagick, and then it works.
Path is set to autodetect, imagemagick is found to be version 6.2.8

Imagemagick probably isn't compiled properly by host. No idea, I suggest using GD2 unless you absolutely need animated GIFs or transparency. Alternative is to contact host to see if there could be a problem with imagemagick.

Ok, will do, as long as there isn't a problem with this specific version in terms of compatibility with the functions used with CB?

Well latest release if imagemagick is 6.8.2-10. I've no idea if it'll provide a better working experience or not. GD works fine and is the suggested if you don't need animation or transparency as it can't do either of them.

Ok, it seems that it is a problem with the php.ini, a security expert of mine recommended me to add some statements to disable functions in the php, and that included calling executables from with php and disabling phpinfo.
I've removed those lines again, and now I can see that GD2 is available on my testsite again, and also imagemagick.

However I still see some odd behaviour.
If I use (1) to update the image I get a prompt for uploading the image, with the right dimension limitations and size limitation (4000 KB).
If I use (2), ie the profile edit, and change the avatar from with that I get the right dimension limitation, but the size limit now says 5000 KB. After uploading it I get an error that the size is bigger than 5000 KB, despite the fact that the avatar is 4 KB big?
The php.ini dictates a max file upload size of 50000 KB, so that is not an issue here.
