No idea, perhaps you've edited the Avatar field and set separate size limits? Edit your avatar field within Field Management and ensure the image processing parameters are empty so it'll use CB > Configuration > Images settings. Try uploading a smaller image (1KB) and see if that works. There was a size check bug in early CB 1.9 release as well, so maybe you didn't get the re-release; please re-download and re-install CB 1.9 over top of it self to fix said bug.

Ok, first thing, yes, I did have a seperate setting there, it is removed.
Secondly, yes, I apparently had an early version, I've redownloaded and installed, and it now updates without problems.
