[SOLVED] Blog or Profile Blog

[SOLVED] Blog or Profile Blog was created by taichicoach
I've been trying to determine the roles of the various "Blog" tabs in the profile.
In one row of tabs I have
Articles, Blog, Forum, Connections, Activity, Invites, Groups, Instant Message, Blogs, Forums, Update Log, Articles

In the next row I have:
Profile Gallery, ProfileBook, ProfileBlog, ProfileWall

Could someone explain the meaning and purpose of each tab, or tell me in what documentation I could find such information?

At least as importantly, since I don't understand it, is there a simple explanation for my community members so that they will know what each tab is for?

Thanks.

I know, lots of people will be rolling their eyes when they read the above question. Perhaps a better question for me to ask is, "Should stupid people like myself be using Community Builder at all?"

Still, there is nothing like asking a question out loud to jump start my brain. I've unpublished what I think are the irrelevant tabs. Now it looks like this.

Next, I'm looking at K2, because I seem to love being in over my head.

No one is stupid. They're just inexperienced, which is expected of anyone new to CB it self. With that said we work directly with designers/integrators instead of clients. A client trying to make a website with zero Joomla/CB experience is going to have one heck of a time getting things rolling, but the potential learning experience could be immensely beneficial. We also have our massive 150+ page documentation in the Advanced downloads section that can be of huge help to those new to CB.

We've no problems answering questions and helping the best we can as that's what we're here for, but with that said we're not here to teach anyone how to make websites which is the line that gets cross sometimes.

It also should be noted that using Joomla/CB with it's "install and go" capability is no excuse not to know/learn PHP/CSS/SQL to some degree, because everyone will hit a wall where they will have to code something or alter code to fit their specific needs; everything we design is generic to fit multiple scenarios and not 1 scenario in particular.

We only have 3 blog tabs. 1 from CB Blogs, 1 from CB ProfileBook, and 1 from the Mamblog plugin. CB ProfileBook provides a very basic blogging usage (no categories, etc..). CB Blogs provides what users are more familiar with in a blogging environment (full WYSIWYG, category support, etc..) and integrates directly with Joomla content (it stores all blogs to Joomla content). The Blog tab is coming from our old mamblog plugin, which doesn't work on anything except Joomla 1.x basically so you can disable its plugin entirely (it'll be replaced with CB Blogs in CB 2.x).

Thank you, so much!
I'm became a self-taught web designer so I could manage my own business sites. This is my third try at working in Joomla and I'm finally getting the hang of it with help from OSTraining.com .
I do get confused by the various documentation. :S

Sometimes I just need to be told where to look. Thanks for not just telling me where to go. ;)

Re CB Blogs,
Is there documentation specifically regarding this plugin? I've found nothing in the manual.

Also, I've been unable to set categories for the blog entries. The dropdown is blank. How are these categories set?
