Can you replace the text editor in plugin CB profile book/tab blog by the editor of joomla?

You can't, it uses a built in BBCode editor.

Is there anything at all that can be done to replace or change the behaviour of the internal editor? It's not very easy/user-friendly for the uninitiated when they use the buttons as it adds non-wysiwyg code in and has huge tool-tip boxes that pop up each time one clicks something that's not the text edit box itself.

If only it could just be a plain text editor, that would be better. I've looked around for some settings but anything that I thought maybe should change its behaviour doesn't seem to make any difference (I may be confusing this with other options that I see somewhere else that give me the opton for Plain, HTML or WYSIWYG, but they never seem to change anything).

If this BBCode 'feature' can't be changed, it really lets down the whole simplicity of how I've managed to get things set up (at last).

It's open source so you're free to rewrite it and implement support for WYSIWYG. There is no simple approach. It was designed from the beginning to use its own internal BBCode editor. The plugin is planned to be rewritten as I've done with CB Privacy and CB Captcha (replacement is CB AnitSpam) and when rewritten will use Joomla WYSIWYG as many of my other projects do. I don't have a timeline or date for when this will happen though.

Err, that's a bit beyond my capabilities, as is using BBCode versus WYSIWYG, as I suspect using BBCode editor would be be for most users of most sites - you cant see or understand what you are writing once it starts adding it's stuff in!

It's a real pain and lets down my site big-time. As I said, a simple plain text editor would be better/best.

Any clues where to look at or find the code to at least switch off the annoyingly large tool-tips and maybe the buttons to stop users ever seeing them. I've only just realised this issue is stopping my site from being what it needs to be and I can't see a way out as the editor is used in various places and will seriously hinder users.

It uses the forum standard BBCode so any user that uses forums should be familiar with all the usage. At any rate if you don't want the BBCode features you can at least disable a few of them by editing the CB ProfileBook tab of your choosing (there's 3; ProfileBook, ProfileWall, and ProfileBlog) within CB > Tab Management then under "Parameters" you can disable a couple of features. Aside from that there is no solution, but to rewrite its entire usage, which is planned for a distant future release.

You can find CB ProfileBook at the below location. Aside from that I can not help you further as we do not support core edits, sorry.
