Hello Support

There is a Site called Vote for Exchange!

vote-exchange.org/community

I really like their map and search options.

i.e. Being able to search for "Nationality" & "Country"

In my case I would be filtering for "Tools of Trade" and "How Long"

Any ideas, what plugin, Component was used for this?

I have come pretty far with my CB and Geomap location Components!

And it would seem to be a shame not to impliment something like this!

thanks in advance

Paul

We didn't create Geomap so I can't really comment on if it can do what you're wanting. We can't do anything like this, because we don't have a decent Google Maps jQuery library, yet, but CB 1.9.1 I'm implementing one so it maybe possible in a new plugin later.

Hi Kyle

Sure I understand.

Really all I am interested in is the Filter thing!

I guess that it is just a simple search Plugin? which is configured in some way?

i.e. the bit on the screen shot where you filter for "Residence" or "Nationality"

Could you please point me in the right direction. How I could implement this. Maybe some instructions online somewhere or a tutorial.

Yeah getting the search to work in conjunction with the map would be a cool function. Whether that be a Geolocation map or a CB map.

thanks

Paul

For that you need to create the fields within CB > Field Management. Then just add them to a CB Userlist within Cb > List Management and search them on frontend when viewing your CB Userlist.

Have the fields already: "Tools of Trade" and "How Long"

(Yes I am tweaking "Tools of Trade in another thread ;-)

Also I have a user list called "All BUG Members" which I previously had filtered for "Last online" for the simple reason that I wanted it to look as if something is happening on the Site.

When I remove this filtering and add "Tools of trade" Asc insteadā€¦

Ascending order gives shows a the "Empty Fields first and then after 55 pages the Alphabetical listing kicks in! I am looking at the filtering options and guessing that there is a way to filter the empty fields out of the selection but am not sure how.

Is it possible to address this issue using a simple filter!

Or do I need to take the advance route!

The manual says about advanced filtering

"In order to take full advantage of the Advanced filter builder knowledge of SQL is needed."

Is this the case?

Further I am not sure how it works when I add another filter e.g. sort by "How Long"

Like how is the list sorted then. By the first Item that turns up on the list.

i.e. "Tools of trade"

and "How Long" is effectively ignored!

Like it is after all a list!?!

PS I at least have the Search part figured out now. So I am wondering if there is a way to get to the Members page with the Search options already showing instead of Having to see the "Search Users" button dialogue and then Click it. Actual ideal would be in a little box somewhere. i.e. Search Module that I can position with the Search Criteria I have. "Tools of Trade" and "How Long"

I have now added Location! Seems to make sense.

PPS I am looking into this now

Joomla 2.5/3.0 CB Search plugin version 1.0.1

But it is giving me the following error when installing via CB Plugin Manager

ERROR: Could not find a CB XML setup file in the package.

Please understand what you are using is not a Filter. You're using Sort By. That just sorts the userlist. It does not filter it down in any way.

Add a basic filter to filter out empty results and you should be ok (e.g. Field Is Not Empty).

Further I am not sure how it works when I add another filter e.g. sort by "How Long"

Like how is the list sorted then. By the first Item that turns up on the list.

i.e. "Tools of trade"

Sort By is direct addition to the database query as ORDER BY. So if you sort by 2 fields at once it'll first sort the results by your first Sort By then sort the newly sorted list by your second Sort By. So I'm not sure what results you're expecting, but you may want to keep this in mind when adding multiple Sort By.

PS I at least have the Search part figured out now. So I am wondering if there is a way to get to the Members page with the Search options already showing instead of Having to see the "Search Users" button dialogue and then Click it. You can either have the search expanded by default or "List All" displayed by default. To have either/or just use one of the URLs found at the top of your userlist while editing it in CB > List Management.

PPS I am looking into this now

Joomla 2.5/3.0 CB Search plugin version 1.0.1

But it is giving me the following error when installing via CB Plugin Manager

ERROR: Could not find a CB XML setup file in the package.

It's a Joomla plugin and needs to be installed through Joomlas extension manager. The CB Search Bot allows searching of CB users using Joomla search module. It is completely separate from CB Userlists and has no form of filter/sorting.
