If I delete a group in the backend is there any way to restore that group back?
I'm building a site reliant on good admin, I'd hate someone to click "delete group" by accident and then have no way to undo that.

GJ 2.7.0
J 2.5.14
CB 1.9

No, once it's gone it's gone forever unless you have a backup of your site with something like Akeeba backup that you can restore.

So there is no structure where deleted groups go into a trash bin like articles?

Hmmm, bit of a problem for an ongoing active community site, you don't want to be going back to a backup from yesterday when people are continually adding their own content and interaction.
I guess we'll just have the admins disable and move groups to an archive type category, rather than deleting them. I'll probably remove the ability to delete groups for all but superadmins.

Thanks!

Wow, I just deleted a Category thinking I could put it's groups in a different category, but it deleted the groups also! Surely it should just unpublish groups in a category or give a warning?

None of CBs plugins have an archive or trash feature. Delete will do exactly as the name implies. Deleting a GJ group deletes the group entirely. Deleting a GJ category deletes the category and the groups it contains entirely. Please for future reference simply ask what a functionality does here if unsure what may happen. I also highly recommend keeping daily backups (usually can be done by your host automatically from cPanel, etc..).

Sure I usually do. But I didn't think deleting a category would delete any group especially without warning. The way I figure it is that group conversation is both impossible to recreate and dynamic minute by minute.
So backups are valuable, but not a real failsafe, someone is going to lose something no matter how recent your backups are. Right?
So I did not expect deleting a category to delete the groups in it. But that's why we're testing at the moment so it's good to find these things out. And I can fully appreciate that you can't cater for everyone's whim.

But perhaps just a warning "deleting this category will delete all groups in it" is a good idea?
I'm going to add a warning on my GJ websites and remove the ability for most admin levels to delete groups & categories.
I'd like to suggest adding the warning as a feature?

Either way, thanks for clearing it up with me!
