what i was referring to was the template package. usually once they are downloaded they are zipped. the zipped file is uploaded using extension manager. but with CB blog you are saying all that is needed is to place the template into CB blog template folder.
i just downloaded a template from rocket theme andn copied it to cb blog template folder using filezilla. i did not experience and change in the outlook of the blog. is there a site i can recommend where i can find templates that you have tried that works so i try it and see where the problem is?

You can't just use any template. The template has to be specifically designed for CB Blogs.

No, I am not aware of any other templates existing for CB Blogs.
