The login display on the login page just renders the display of the first login module it finds. The display of the login page on login failure is normal behavior. Its appearance is up to your Joomla template and its module styling.
What URL are you on when it gives you the does not exist error? Check the profile access permission within CB > Configuration > User Profile and set it to Public then retry and see if you login fine.
