[SOLVED] Is CB Subs compatible with the latest version of DOCman?

9 years 5 months ago - 9 years 5 months ago #264134 by delhi-expat
Hi,

I've been using DOCman on my site for a while now along with CBSUBS 4.0-rc2(pretty much because the CBSUBS manual stated it was compatible with DOCman), and haven't encountered issues. However, I tried updating my user subscription plans via the admin area today, and it seems DOCman is causing some wierd errors to occur when I'm trying to access CBSubs. Here is the exact error I'm getting when I try and add new subscription plans (or access a few other areas of CBSubs): -

An error has occurred.

1146 Table 'discovve_joom864.een_docman_groups' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT groups_id, groups_name FROM een_docman_groups ORDER BY groups_name

Return to Control Panel

I initially thought this was an issue with DOCman, so I contacted their support team, but they are saying that the table in question only existed in DOCman 1.6 (as opposed to the current version) and so it is perhaps a case of CBSUBS not being compatible with the latest version of DOCman (version 2.1.2).

I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if there is indeed an incompatibility, and if so, any workarounds or fixes for this.

Thanks!

As far as I know the latest DOCman releases no longer have internal group support and rely on Joomla ACL/Groups for download privileges.

This basically renders our previous CBSubs DOCman integration not necessary.

Thanks for responding nant. Is there any way this "integration" could be removed in the current version of CBSubs? I'm happy to go in and edit the code if need be, but not sure what to edit, or even if what I'm asking is feasible. And apparently the guys at Joomlatools don't know how to resolve this either. . .

I'd really like to use DOCman on my site, but the bottom line for me really is get it to work with CB - if it doesn't, I'm pretty much stuck and will probably need to uninstall the extension to get it to work.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Also, what is the latest supported version of DOCman? I'm wondering if reverting back to an earlier version would resolve the issue. Not ideal of course, but would work as a "stop gap" solution of sorts. . . :)

You don't need an integration for DOCman anymore. That plugin is deprecated and will be removed probably in stable release of CBSubs 4.0.0. The latest releases of DOCman just use Joomla usergroups now.

You don't need anything for the two to work together. You can protect downloads using usergroups and assigning those usergroups using CBSubs or CB Auto Actions. You can also use By URL Part protection and protect the download URL if you wanted, etc..

Hi Kyle

Thanks for responding, as well as for letting me know. Thing is, an error is occurring when I access CBSubs (when I try to create new subscription plans, or try and click on an username in a CBSubs table etc etc). The error message is the same as mentioned in my initial post, and it won't allow me to add/modify new subscription plans etc.

Do you have any idea on how to resolve this? As mentioned, I'm using the latest versions of everything. . . :)
