Bummer. So how do I display a language specific field that depends on a field above in the form?

I could use a language override within the field ... if only CB would support it after 5 years of Joomla core multilanguage feature. And no, the CB specific lang plugins dont work. You lose all your customisation when you update the lang pack with a fresh copy of the transifex files. Why dont you do what all other components are doing and use the core language feature?

Please see my below reply. You can use the noted substitution in Custom > Value conditional usage.

We do support overrides in the form of an override plugin. Please see the below tutorial.

We do not use Joomla language usage, because the parsing behavior is no where close to as powerful as CBs, which we are constantly improving. We have plans for database driven overrides and backend editing of language files in a later release. We also have plans for language string conditions and much more (see the below forge ticket for an example of this). Our language strings also support counter conditioning (e.g. 1 Photo or 2 Photos based off the count). We also support multiple language keys per string (e.g. YES YES_MY_FIELD) where my field would be more specific to that exact string usage. We'd also like to implement gender support to provide even better translations at some point. None of which Joomlas simple INI strings support.
