Problems with CB Connect FaceBook Login: Not working correctly

Hi Krilleon,

I was testing this with my own Facebook account which is setup so there are no privacy issues.
The mail address should be provided along with all other personal info such as name, profile image etc.
While image and name are obtained properly, email isn't. Sure there is nothing wrong with the beta?

The email for my Facebook account is retrieved perfectly fine. Edit your Facebook application and under "Status & Review" ensure your application has the "email" permission. If it doesn't it won't retrieve the email.

Checked. The app already had the following permissions:
  • email – Provides access to the person's primary email address. This permission is approved by default.
  • public_profile – Provides access to a person's basic information, including first name, last name, profile picture, gender and age range. This permission is approved by default.
  • user_friends – Provides access to a person's list of friends that also use your app. This permission is approved by default.

I guess these settings should allow email retrieval …? However, still being asked to enter email address when attempting to use the "Facebook Connect" function on our website.

Any other ideas as to why this might happen?

Ensure you are not mapping core fields within CB Connect parameters. Name, Username, Email, Profile Image, etc.. do not need to be mapped as it's done automatically. Aside from that I don't know what more to advise as it works fine in my tests with multiple installs and multiple accounts. For whatever reason Facebook is not providing your email address. Try removing the application from your Facebook accounts privacy settings then retry as it'll force a re-authorization.

Hi Krilleon,

thanks for your help and time so far.

The website is live and is still experiencing the login problems. So far no user was able to properly use the Facebook login. Some receive strange "the app does not allow this action" error messages, others get asked for their e-mail addresses. Not one proper working fb login.

I am very frustrated as I don't know where to search for the problem.

If you have the time to test, please try logging into the website www.wirtshausfreunde.de by using Facebook (horizontal Login module is in the header).

I will also supply the Facebook account login data by PN.

Was able to confirm your issue. Appears to be due with Facebook API v2.4. Have fixed for Beta 4 and have installed Beta 4 for you already. You also were mapping Username and Email under Registration > Mapping, which you should not do and have removed those mappings for you.
