Every plugin has a set goal in mind, but how you use the plugin is entirely up to you. We can't tell you what you want or how you want to use something.Their is nearly limitless flexibility if you know WHAT you want to do and HOW to it.
Correct, CB is meant to be modular and put together to fit whatever needs you want. The issue is you need to know what you want. If you don't then try everything and see what you like then simply disable/uninstall what you don't. Once we allow plugin install from backend (essential our own built in app store) in a later CB release it'll be even easier to do this.Unfortunately for people who are looking for a turnkey solution CB is not that. It is more like a kit you use to piece together a solution. It doesn't make CB bad, just different in a way that challenges the norm.
That's what our CB Quickstart Pro package used to be. We'll be providing that again once our package builder has been rewritten and we figure out what all to package in it. It was basically a single package that installed multiple plugins and pre-configured them for a standard social network experience. Most of its plugins got merged into CBs core though and I haven't had time to upgrade our packager builder yet so we haven't released a new one. After GJ rewrite is complete I'll be able to focus on upgrading our package builder, which can be used to generate single install packages and allow us to provide a Quickstart package again. That said I have a feeling if CB offered a true turn-key solution that worked "out of the box" as a single install with a single control panel on the backend they would find many happy customers
