CB and our plugins are designed to be modular. Use as much or as little as you want. With CB 2.x and the rewritten plugins they all fit together better now as they all have the same template code and style. I really don't see what your issue is in regards to them not fitting together as they're specifically designed to.

CB Auto Actions is designed to bridge plugins together in a non-dependent way. This allows it to extend plugins functionality without Plugin A having Plugin B API hardcoded into it, which causes significant problems when it comes to maintaining these plugins. This also means plugins are not bloated with other plugin code and reduces having to maintain duplicate code in over a dozen plugins.

The majority of our plugins are install, publish, and done. They don't need any further configuration out of the box. CB Activity only needs CB Auto Actions if you want activity logging from other plugins, but it's not required for CB Activity to function as it is first and foremost just a stream.

Thanks for the response Kyle. As I have said before the individual pieces all seem to be well thought out and engineered. I think where CB suffers is in how the information is presented to the companies and designers that will be using these pieces to build their websites. The more I use CB products the more I start to understand the CB approach. Their is nearly limitless flexibility if you know WHAT you want to do and HOW to it.

Unfortunately for people who are looking for a turnkey solution CB is not that. It is more like a kit you use to piece together a solution. It doesn't make CB bad, just different in a way that challenges the norm.

That said I have a feeling if CB offered a true turn-key solution that worked "out of the box" as a single install with a single control panel on the backend they would find many happy customers ;)

Every plugin has a set goal in mind, but how you use the plugin is entirely up to you. We can't tell you what you want or how you want to use something.

Correct, CB is meant to be modular and put together to fit whatever needs you want. The issue is you need to know what you want. If you don't then try everything and see what you like then simply disable/uninstall what you don't. Once we allow plugin install from backend (essential our own built in app store) in a later CB release it'll be even easier to do this.

That's what our CB Quickstart Pro package used to be. We'll be providing that again once our package builder has been rewritten and we figure out what all to package in it. It was basically a single package that installed multiple plugins and pre-configured them for a standard social network experience. Most of its plugins got merged into CBs core though and I haven't had time to upgrade our packager builder yet so we haven't released a new one. After GJ rewrite is complete I'll be able to focus on upgrading our package builder, which can be used to generate single install packages and allow us to provide a Quickstart package again.

Sounds like you and the CB team are working hard! Even if I have issues I appreciate all you do. I could not do it on my own... or at all. Thank you!
