Yes, the captcha field is the one with CB Antispam and is used on the registration form and its set to Default, the plugin is et to 'Internal (Code)' if that makes sense.

I haven't seen that pop up before, only on checking registration process today. And it only happens if CB Antispam is enabled.

You're using AEC, which is intercepting the registration process. I suspect that's where your conflict maybe coming from. CB AntiSpam catches errors to block registration/login attempts, etc.. that error is likely still being thrown, but you can't see it. CB AntiSpam is probably just catching it during registration blocking testing or captcha validation.

Unfortunately you've too much installed and controlling too many aspects of your registration through 3rd party integration that I won't be able to debug this properly as that'd require mass disable/enable testing of various extensions, which shouldn't be done on a live site.

You have multiple 3rd party user plugins as well. Any one of them could also be erroring on user store. They are as follows.

User - EasyBlog Users
User - JComments
Authorization - AEC Access
User - AEC User

I suspect the registration error is coming from one of the above when their user is propagated to those extensions.

Thanks for looking. Going to be a long job to investigate then

I have what was a clone of the site running on my server for development purposes. I'll have to make sure that it is fully up to date as the main site, then investigate as you suggest over there.

The trouble is that with a large, and growing, website that has evolved over years there are always going to be different suppliers components and plugins.

AEC and CB don't seem to sit well together. They had to re-write after CB went to 2.0.

Is there a way to migrate from AEC to CB Subs? Doing this manually would be extremely long winded with thousands of users....

Or do I need to post another topic to ask that question?

I've no idea how AEC tables are structure so no idea if a simple migration is even possible. Probably need some sort of custom extension that handles that, but we've nothing of the sort.
