3 issues with GroupJive 3.0.1

3 issues with GroupJive 3.0.1 was created by vptechnology
Joomla 3.4.8
CB 2.0.13
GJ 3.0.1

Issue 1- in GJ - under the "Users" tab, it lists the users...
- If I turn OFF paging and set the number of lines displayed to some randomly high number, then everyone is displayed
- If I turn ON paging, and turn OFF "search", then the paging works properly with whatever number of lines is set.
- If I turn ON paging and turn ON "search", then it breaks. The paging links disappear and search never returns ANY results at all.

Issue 2- (MINOR) in CB user Profiles - the "groups" tab lists the groups that the user has joined. However, the LINK to the groups includes an extra level.
SITE/prof-dev-program/roundtables/roundtable-metroboston/pluginclass?plugin=cbgroupjive&action=groups&func=show&id=5
I would expect the link to be
SITE/prof-dev-program/roundtables/pluginclass?plugin=cbgroupjive&action=groups&func=show&id=5
(group 5 is NOT "roundtable metroboston" it is "roundtable metronorth")
Does anyone know why the roundtable-metroboston appears in the URL?

Issue 3- the video tab in GJ groups SHOWS and LINKS a youtube video, but does not allow the video to PLAY inline and displays a video-length of 0:00

Actually, just discovered a fourth issue...

in the upgrade from GJ 2.7.0 to 3.0.1 you appear to have removed the ability for the Group Owners to specify the title/subject of message that they send to their group members.

Why?

Is there any way to get that back?

- If I turn OFF paging and set the number of lines displayed to some randomly high number, then everyone is displayed

That's normal. The parameter directly states "Input page limit. Page limit determines how many rows are displayed per page. If paging is disabled this can still be used to limit the number of rows displayed.". Leave it blank to always show everyone.

- If I turn ON paging, and turn OFF "search", then the paging works properly with whatever number of lines is set.

Also normal.

- If I turn ON paging and turn ON "search", then it breaks. The paging links disappear and search never returns ANY results at all.

Paging is working fine in my tests in this scenario, but searching appears to be wonky. Likely it's checking for the wrong request parameters and probably why you're not seeing paging. Have added a bug ticket for this. For now keep search disabled until resolved.

Most likely you have the menu item for GJ as a child menu item of another. In that case it works as follows.

DOMAIN/PARENT-ALIAS/MENU-ALIAS/MENU-PARAMETERS

Beyond that GJ has no real control over this as it just appends the plugins menu item itemid if found.

in the upgrade from GJ 2.7.0 to 3.0.1 you appear to have removed the ability for the Group Owners to specify the title/subject of message that they send to their group members.

Subject is controlled by a language string.

Why?

To further avoid spamming and simplify the interface.

Is there any way to get that back?

Nope.

Hmmm.....

ok, issue 1 is actually a bug. Search is disabled for now. I look forward to the update release. :)

Issue 2 is confusing -- because GJ itself has no menu entry. All of the menu entries are for individual groups. I wasn't even aware that GJ could have a menu entry without it being for a category or group -- and none of the groups are children of the other groups (in terms of actual organization and of menu organization)
I even tried making the category be the parent menu item -- with no luck. (and, also not a good design, since the vategory description is hidden under the (i) icon and has no actual description displayed on the page :( )

Issue 4 -- this is actually rather upsetting. My group managers use the message feature to send updates to their group members - and have done so for years. I fail to see how removing the subject line reduces spamming -- and removing that feature has really annoyed and upset my managers so much that they are telling me that they feel the groups are now almost useless (yes, that is an over reaction, but I do see where they are coming from) Forcing use to use a fixed, predetermined subject seems random and a poor choice (and it's not even like it saves more than a single line of code) and I would argue that the "simplifying" of the interface actually looks WORSE, having only the message box.

Can we PLEASE request that the subject for messages from group admins to the group be added back in --- or do I have to find/pay someone to recode a feature which you randomly decided to remove. :(

Some of your "simplify the design" decisions in the 3.0.1 GJ seem to be poor choices to me and my group. :( but the removal of the subject line is actually a terrible functional change.

oh, I didn't see any answer to issue 3....

Create a menu item to Community Builder > Plugin then select CB GroupJive for the plugin. It's now possible to create internal menu items to CB component plugins frontend views. This should allow you to customize the menu item alias as needed.

I've added a feature ticket to add support for custom message subject when using email notifications. Disabled by default. Force disabled for PMS since PMS doesn't have subject.

For you they are, sure. I don't expect to please everyone. For the sake of GJ it had to be made simple. We've talked with enough people, ran enough statistics, and got enough feedback to determine it was too complicated for the vast majority of our users. Facebook and other major social sites were also used as examples to build off of.

Overall GJ is in a better place than it was before. On top of that all of our products are completely open source. So if our generalized solution doesn't fit anyones need you're more than welcome to modify it to do so. GJs frontend is entirely template driven as well making it even easier to personalize.

There were also months of Beta and RC releases where everyone was free to voice their opinion on the changes.

Issue 3- the video tab in GJ groups SHOWS and LINKS a youtube video, but does not allow the video to PLAY inline and displays a video-length of 0:00

Are there any fatal JS errors present on the page? Press F12 to open the developer tools and review the console tab for any fatal JS errors. Also ensure the youtube video allows embeds. A later release I'll be dropping the flash player in favor of native youtube video output and HTML5 so that should eliminate all playback problems as well.

Thanks for the attention. I am looking into the video further... but definitely look forward to the replacement of the flash.

just encountered another complaint from my managers.... it looks like the "message" option, in addition to removing the subject also now removed all formatting and sends the content in a big single blurb of text without even linebreaks.
I understand the desire to simplify and even to reduce spam... but I don't quite see how removing all formatting from the messages does either of those. :( As a matter of fact, I would posit to you that by removing all formatting, you have now increased the possibility that recipients will view the message as unreadable spam.

Final thing for today - one of the managers sent out a message using the system, yesterday... when he did so, the message option disappeared from his menu in the group. Is this expected behavior (to limit the number of messages that someone can send)?
