just encountered another complaint from my managers.... it looks like the "message" option, in addition to removing the subject also now removed all formatting and sends the content in a big single blurb of text without even linebreaks.
I understand the desire to simplify and even to reduce spam... but I don't quite see how removing all formatting from the messages does either of those. :( As a matter of fact, I would posit to you that by removing all formatting, you have now increased the possibility that recipients will view the message as unreadable spam.

Group messages do not allow HTML. Will add a parameter to enable support for HTML, but I strongly don't advise doing so and will be disabled by default.

forge.joomlapolis.com/issues/5877

Final thing for today - one of the managers sent out a message using the system, yesterday... when he did so, the message option disappeared from his menu in the group. Is this expected behavior (to limit the number of messages that someone can send)?

Yes, there's a spam protection to prevent rapid sending of group messages. You can adjust this within GJ > Configuration > Parameters > Groups > Messages. It's default set to 60 seconds.

thank you for your responses and responsiveness.

On the one hand, I understand your desire to simplify some of this stuff... on the other hand, I hope you understand the need for formatted group email messages with a subject. The jumble of text with no line breaks and no formatting doesn't look professional. :)

It has no formatting because it's input cleaned to raw text. This will be fixed by allowing HTML in messages.

Hello everyone,

I just faced a search issue which seems to be similar. The situation was that I couldn't search users from within groups, it always returned the same results no matter what was specified in the search box.

Looking at the code, I found that it was missing the following within file component.cbgroupjive.php, line #1019. The search didn't append the string that was specified by the user.
Code:
$query .= $where;

In the situation I faced, it seemed to have resolved it.

Hoping this helps.

Regards.

Good find. Was able to confirm. It was only adding it to the total query. Seams to be a few locations I made that mistake, whoops. Fixing for next build. Thank you!
