I don't have a clue what they're talking about. There is nothing of the sort in the API changelog on Facebooks developer site and the authentication usage CB Connect is using has not changed between v2.5 and v2.8. CB Connect is also working perfectly fine in all my tests. A new CB Connect nightly has been released updating the API versions to 2.8 and removing the deprecated bio field. Please see if that resolves your issue.
If issue persists then enable debug mode and maximum error reporting in Joomla global configuration then see if any error is output. If not then within CB Connect under the Facebook > Application tab set "Debug" to "Enable", which should allow all API calls to output debug information.
