CB Gallery 3.0: Search in albums from all users ?

Ok, the following is being implemented.

 

Basically if you turn albums off for a gallery its media can be flattened into the gallery. This behavior is default disabled so when released you'll need to toggle it for whatever gallery you want this on. This is the only UX that makes any sense. So you won't be able to upload into or create albums on your flattened gallery, but it will work fine in any other regard. I'm also looking into adding support for searching and paging to the CB Galley Module and its Media mode that could also be used.

The above is now implemented in latest CB Gallery build release. Simply edit whatever gallery you want this behavior on and under the Display tab turn albums off and their media on. I recommend using the Profile Gallery for uploading then have a new custom gallery for displaying media from every user and on that gallery turn all sharing off so it's just for display purposes.

Have also added a feature ticket to add paging and searching to the media mode for CB Gallery Module, but that will have to wait for now.

Wow! What you did is complying 100% to my own needs !

Here my configuration 
profile gallery :
asset profile.[displayed_id] , display :  Album Yes, Photos Yes create: Album Yes, Media Yes Require Album Yes

main gallery ( all users):
asset gallery.1 , display :  Album No (display Media yes), Photos Yes create: Album No, Media No 

The rendering is perfect and allow to search in all photos flattened , that's great !!

The issue is now about activity and profile gallery. it seems that the config of main gallery is superseeding the config or profile gallery :
- On activity page,  i cannot share photos anymore - a mouse over an existing image formerly shared show an url in main gallery
- On profil page, I can create folders but each attempt to open the folder return a 401 error

So, I unpublished the main gallery [gallery.1], but it does not rollback to the previous situation - All images on Activity stream are unreachables ( because still searching in unpublished gallery...)

I think this behavior is not resulting from your new feature update but due to the copy/paste of the profile gallery to create the so called gallery.1 ?

CB Activity should be using the "CB Activity - Activity" gallery when sharing while posting. Do not set it to a profile gallery. We already had this problem in another post of yours. Please edit your activity streams and be sure you did not change what gallery it uses again. If you did not then edit "CB Activity - Activity" and be sure your settings are correct.

I've no such issue in my tests. The albums should belong to the profile gallery and be perfectly accessible. I'm guessing this is due to a menu item problem. If you've a Joomla menu item to "main gallery ( all users):" try unpublishing it and see if that fixes it as the 401 is probably from Joomla. To prevent this create a menu item to both "profile gallery :" and "main gallery ( all users):" with the appropriate access permissions.

Hi ! Thank you for your advice . You guessed well, the main issue was due to a menu.item mess.
So, I currently Icreated 2 links in the main menu : 1 for profile gallery and 1 for gallery "all users" with their own parameters for display (and disabling all possibilities to create/share in the common gallery). 

Situation is now much better :

The activity stream is working normally now but i see that photos are linked to the "gallery-all" and not anymore to the related profile gallery. I do not know if it is normal and if it may create any mess in the management of comments,like... 

Both menu link are working fine but the my gallery tab in profile page is no longer working because the albums folders are now linked to the 'gallery all' with its specific property. Same issue, if I want to look on other's user profile gallery I am landing on the "gallery all" and not on the related user's gallery. How can I handle the links from this tab to allow user's seeing gallery profile of others users? ( Edit: I had a look in the tab management in the CB backend menu and the my gallery tab is well pointed to profile gallery, so i think something is superseeding)

I suggest creating a generic media menu item then going from there. So have the following menu items.

1. Community Builder > Plugin > CB Gallery then set Action to Gallery followed by leaving Gallery as "- Select Gallery-".
2. Community Builder > Plugin > CB Gallery then set Action to Gallery followed by setting Gallery to "main gallery ( all users):"

Your second menu item should be the one you use when you want people to access that gallery. The first menu item should be hidden and will just be used by Joomla for routing purposes. Will review if I can improve what menu item Joomla is picking in a future release, but we don't have a lot of control over this.
