The CB Team is proud to announce the release of version 1.1 of the Community Builder suite. This release contains many bug-fixes, security hardenings and new features. Due to the security enhancements comming with this release, all CB websites are highly encouraged to upgrade to version 1.1 soon.

This release is compatible with Joomla 1.0.X (including 1.0.13 and any previously released versions like 1.0.12) , Joomla 1.5 RC1, and Mambo 4.5.2-4.6.2. You can download the CB 1.1 distribution package from the CB Team Releases section of the Joomlapolis download area (remember to unzip the distribution package and follow the README.txt instructions closely).

For Joomla installations, the CB Team recommends upgrading to CB 1.1 before upgrading to Joomla 1.0.13.

The main new features included in CB 1.1 are:

  • Front-end user editing (including avatar uploads) by moderators and administrators (configurable)
  • Fields can now be styled in 2 columns (like previously) or in 2 rows
  • New way to format profiles using replacement tags anywhere in field, tab or list titles/descriptions and in field values, menu items or status items
  • Connections plugin enhancements (more status messages)
  • New moderation features
  • ACL for tabs (applies for front end viewing and editing)
  • Tab ordering in profiles and in registration (for field groupings)
  • New date field (with 3 drop down selections)

New forum areas have been created to discuss CB 1.1 issues – so please use them!

The CB Team has also updated the free installation guide (in download area, documentation section). Also, a new version of the detailed guide has been prepared (now over 140 pages!) for our documentation subscription members and is waiting for them in the subscriptions repository. Please consider supporting the CB Team by subscribing to the documentation service (click here for details).

The CB Team would like to thank the Joomla and Mambo communities that assisted during the testing period – without them this release would not be possible.
