Please see above edit. ;) I should be able to find the cause by adding some debug code. As is it's not very apparent from backend review and enable/disable of extensions.

Have finished review and seams your backup was bad. I've restored core Joomla library files as well as all of CB and confirmed login now works fine. Please also confirm is working fine for you.
