I know what you are describing -- it is the way CB is *supposed* to work.

I am describing how it is, in fact, working for my users. They are getting emails that they should not get, and they are annoyed.

I'm trying to find out how to keep that from happening. I'm a very patient person.

If Pending and Welcome email aren't configured (subject and body empty) then they won't send. If they are configured then they will send and they will send to the user registering (they're not moderator emails). It's possible they're receiving the Joomla registration email, which you can disable by reviewing the below topic.

The above should only happen when created in backend though. Also check Extensions > Plug-in Manager > User - Joomla! and ensure "Notification Mail to User" is set to "No".
