Hi Support

I have the following situation.

I have a user group Site that is basically a mix between Easy Blog and Community Builder.

It is a closed Site. Which means to access the community you need to login.

However it is also an open Site!

Yes I know I am contradicting myself.

The default list is called “All BUG members”

And the second list is called “BUG Bloggers.”

I have the access level for both lists set to public.

And the menus for View My Profile, Search Members etc set to registered Users.

This way none registered users can look at the list of users but have to register if they want to look at the individual profiles.

Now inside Easy Blogger I have profiles for the Bloggers.

I have a choice either these Blogger Profiles go to the internal Easy Blog Profile system or to Community Builder or JoomSocial.

So I have it set to go to CB.

Problem is that I have set the “My Profile, Search members” etc to registered users.

Is there a way to get this to work?

I think that I will ultimately have to create a third list for "Admin" and hook it up to a contact page.

But I can not figure out how to do this either.

My logic is make a list.

Have one person on it. i.e. Administrator.

Make a menu.

Link the menu to the List with the administrator!

Using "User Profile"

then this appears

index.php?option=com_comprofiler

And I´ve done something wrong!

Please advise as this CB Logic is driving me crazy.

thanks

Paul

I don't understand the problem. If you want profiles private just set them as Registered access only within CB > Configuration > User Profile and it won't matter how they reach the profile. Menu access protection only works if that menu links Itemid is used.

Hi krileon

Sorry but I just do not get it!

"Menu access protection only works if that menu links Itemid is used."

Maybe I explained badly before...

I want the administrator to be viewable by the public.

This is why I created a list for him.

A list with only the Admin.

reading your reply now I am thinking that was a mistake and I should be doing something like this...

Create a menu

Menu Item Type : User Profile Mandatory

Then there is the Link box below which is I guess what you are talking about...

index.php?option=com_comprofiler

Do I need to replace the below link with something along these lines?

finalbug.net/community/my-profile

There are also

Link Type Options

Do I need to do something there as well?

thanks

I've no idea what you're trying to do, sorry. You can display anyone you want on your userlists as long as they're enabled, approved, confirmed, and not banned. This includes admin profiles. You do however need a public and published Joomla menu item to CBs profile page if you want those profiles publicly accessible. If not then set profile access within CB > Configuration > User Profile (if you want public profiles then set profile access to Public here as well). I really can't stress this enough please read your CB documentation. We cover the entire configure and setup process in it as well as parameter walkthrough. It can be found in the Advanced download section.

I have read the documentation again and still can not figure things out.

Basically I want a page to show a CB Profile (Admin Profile) so that someone looking at the Site can contact me.

As of now I set my "contact" page to "User Profile Mandatory"

When I try to look at the "contact" page I get.

"Please log in or register to view or modify your profile."

Is there a way to get this to work or am I up against a brick wall?

Please advise

thanks

Scenario 01

At this point I am referring to page 28-29 of CB documentation.

(I am on Joomla 2.5)

I try to get the Contact Page to go to User List “Contact Admin” only one user on this list.

For Menu Type I can select “User list” but see no way of specifying a specific list.

Now referring to page 126 of the documentation

If I understand this correctly this means that if I can insert eg

“index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=usersList&listid=6”

Into the link field it this page would go to my “Contact Admin Page”

The problem is that I can not edit this link field.

I have tried and it is not editable!

Also the when I click on the link

“index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=usersList&listid=6”

It takes me to a page where I get the

“ You are not authorized to view this page! “

Message despite the fact that I have set access to Public!

All I want to do is have something like this! See “CBhowITcouldLOOK” screenshot.

Press contact and get taken to Admin Profile.

Surely this can not be so difficult!

Please Advise.

best

Paul
