Ok So I solved the issue. I was using modulesanywhere to insert data into fields. It was working fine but I think it started to get a bit weird when I was using multiple Tabs with it. Removed the offending fields and Tabs and the edit button is working again. Pity I couldn't get it to work the Tabs really keep things tidy and space efficient.
That could be due to a fatal JS error (press F12 to open developer console to see under the Console tab) or my broken HTML inserted. I've no idea which issue specifically your modules anywhere is causing though.
