OK, I found that the CB Configuration "Allow User Configuration" had lost its default "Yes, Independent of CMS" ( CMS is off)- and taken a new default of "Same as CMS".

Reset that, and public can access subscription forms again!

But NO CAPTCHA ANYMORE... I wonder what else may have 'slipped' during the upgrade... :-(

OK, adding in Captcha via CB_ANTISPAM plugin.

Not pleased with the sudden appearance of components/com_comprofiler/plugin/templates/default/images/title/general.jpg
Can I turn that off somewhere?
Well, I suppose that is trivial enough to hack.

But there is a really annoying problem in the user's 'Subscription' and 'Contact Info' Tabs - the constant display of
/modules/mod_multi_socialtabs/images/loader.gif ( "progress wheel") :-(

Something incompatible with CB?? Seems its some sort of background image, and the CB page is transparent over it?
Trying to track this down... Ah, it's from a 4-year-old 'social media tabs' extension (Disabled!!). That clears that up.

So, aside from some setting slippage, and what looks like a lot of little UI tweaks coming up, seems this upgrade is gonna be do-able.

I can only pray that the NEXT TIME "the upgrade" doesn't turn into a 60 hour dev site testing ordeal like this one. I mean, I personally do not even need or care about ANY new "CB" features... I am only upgrading for the sake of security patches, and to be able to chase down some minor UI irritations (which will probably end up being in the template, anyway...)

You can turn the registration banner off or select a new one within CB > Configuration > Registration by adjusting the "Registration Title Image" parameter.

It's not an upgrade. It's a migration and I can assure you our migration is far less painful than Joomla 1.x to 3.x for example. Each major release of CB (e.g. CB 3.0, 4.0, etc..) are classified as migrations as it's when we do large, possibly breaking, changes. CB is free and we're not forcing anyone to do such migrations, but we need to move forward and moving forward means improving and getting rid of old code. CB 3.0 should be a smoother migration compared to 1.x to 2.x.
