This is now implemented in latest CB GroupJive build release. You'll find a new "User" parameter in the GJ module when using the My Groups, Joined Groups, or Owned Groups modes. This will let you select the viewing user, displayed user, or displayed user with fallback to viewing user for the groups display. In your case since you're using it in a field on profile setting it to "Displayed" would be best, but if you use it anywhere outside of profile then "Displayed or Viewing" would be recommended.
