[SOLVED] Problem with upgrading to cb 2.0.8 from 1.91

Upgraded joomla from 3.36 to 3.4.1 and then cb from 1.91 to 2.08 ( with a lot of the cb plugin available from cb for professional level)and upgraded cbsubs from 3.0 to nightly release of CBsubs RC2 (so it would show plans and work), have kuena forums and virtuemart and jce editor updated to version for joomla 3.41 and they are all current and work

Problem I am having is that when someone clicks joins site they do not get message that to check their email , it just redirects to same page and not message as in cb 1.91, with the standard work flow of message to check your email. The new user is not created in cb or joomla
The forgot login also does not redirect or give message that new password or login reminder has been sent. no email is sent.

logging on is no problem for users and profile edits works and profile update logger sends emails. mass mailing in user management in cb works fine.

php is 5.4.31, apache is 2.2.27, mysql version is 5.5.36

I went ahead and created a new site with fresh install of joomla 3.4.1 and then just installed cb 2.08 without cb subs or any of your other cb plugins. so it is just brand new joomla and newest cb. I can join the site (register) and do get the message of welcoming and check your email. admin did not get email about new user and user did not get email. and when I use forgot password (it works as in it gives a message and instead of just going back to same screen)I get message of danger:
Sending Email Failed! Error: Could not instantiate mail function

send mass email from cb user management works fine

I have cleared the cache, diabled sef, rewrite, cleared browser cache, turned off caching in joomla and cleared server cache.

in migrating to 2.08 cb was some database issues and that was fixed with the tools in cb, cbsubs did not work correctly until I downloaded nightly build
I have checked the forums and have seen that to turn on email in global config in joomla and save then turn it back on and save it. I have done this many times and still there is problem with registering on site and forgot password. In simple fresh install with only cb 2.08 and joomla 3.41 there are problem but user does get created and no one is notified Mail works from other functions inside of cb. update logger emails admins

We need some functions that are only available in cb 2.0.x on the site and I really like the way cb 2.0.x works except for the part where a user cannot register and join site or get forgot password features

Should I go ahead and create a support ticket?

Enable debug mode and maximum error reporting in Joomla global configuration and retest registration to see if any fatal errors output. If none then disable CBSubs and retest to see if registration goes through.

No fatal errors output and disabling cbsubs did not fix the issue

Disable non-core plugins 1 by 1 within CB > Plugin Management until issue goes away. If it doesn't then it's not a plugin conflict and you'll need to repeat with non-core Joomla System and User plugins in Extensions > Plugin Manager to see if a 3rd party extension is conflicting.

I have disabled non cb plugins and then other extensions and the problem did not go away. I have submitted a support ticket

There's no reason to submit a ticket for support. You're already receiving support. Ensure live_site in configuration.php is an empty string then ensure you've a public and published Joomla menu item to CBs page. Please also re-test with the default Joomla template as CB uses Joomla message queue to output errors and other messages, which some templates don't have the tag to output.
