It's not an issue anymore for GJ 3.0.1 (now released). The images will not be upscaled anymore. So use whatever sizes you think fits your design best. I recommend for logos a height of no less than 150. For canvases I recommended a height of no less than 200. Your settings are fine, but the image you're uploaded is likely the culprit (too small).

Still having the issue Kyle with the smaller "preview" boxes that are used in "Groups" and in the module. See attached image. Image size and resolution I'm using are the correct. The logo and canvas image are fine once you enter the "Group". I'm running GJ 3.01 and Joomla 3.4
The logos are no longer upscaled. The quality you see is the quality you uploaded. Large images of course will downscale so they don't expand outside of the container. See the below screenshots of it working fine.

If you uploaded images with GJ 2.x settings then they'll always be low quality until you upload new ones with adjusted size parameters.

The canvas background was always their.
That is the default template for groupjive.
Please download the CB GroupJive Primer book and study it - it has a chapter that shows you how to make your own template that does not have this background image.
