uddeim 1.7 installation problem

I have followed the instructions and uninstalled the previous version (1.6) downloaded the new version and unzipped the directory. I have tried several times to install the new component but every time I try to install com_uddeim.zip it thinks about it for an extaordinarily long time, stalls a couple of times then finally says:
"There was an error uploading this file to the server"
"Unable to find install package"

I cannot see what I am doing wrong and after several re-downloads and many attempts to install I get the same result.

Is it possible there is something wrong with the new package?

Has anyone else had similar problems with upgrading?

Since the issue arises at the first point of installation and is repetitive, it seems that there is a problem.

Your server died while uploading the package. There are several issues with that and there is a manual way to do it with that kind of unreliable servers (see the FAQ).

You can try to upload the component to the server first and install from there.

Same issue happened to me too.

The installation package has quite the same size as in 1.6, so systems who were able to install 1.6 should also be able to install 1.7.

Unfortunately most systems are shared servers and the server load may vary. So you should try again when the server has less to do or should try to install from the server or use the way described in the FAQ (remove the default template and modify the XML file in the zip installation package).

I am experiencing the same problem, getting same message error.
I tryed again to upload version 1.6 to check if my server was the cause, but 1.6 upload perfectly and quickly. It seems there is a problem with the package.

I removed three files that are used to create the utf8 files from the package, now, so the files becomes a little bit smaller.

Try to re-download the package and try again. When it works you should really consider to change the provider since 600kb should not be the reason that a server process dies.
